ADTECH to Prevent Click Fraud
Preventing click fraud - ADTECH’s protective measures against click fraud.
Preventing Click Fraud

Although the rate of fraudulent clicks has decreased, bad clicks are a danger to the entire online industry. According to the latest Click Fraud Index by Click Forensics, in the first quarter of 2008, one in six search engine, affiliate or banner ad clicks across the world was fraudulent. That's down slightly from the 16.6 percent rate for Q4 2007.

The figures for each country vary considerably with single digit figures in most European countries such as the UK, France and Germany, with the US bearing the brunt of the problem.

ADTECH offers its customer two solutions to prevent manipulated banner clicks:
-  individually configurable click intervals and
-  click fraud logging with ‘click fraud reports’.

Users of ADTECH’s ad management solution can set their own minimum click interval so that ADTECH’s adservers will record only one click from each unique user within the designated timeframe. Besides preventing click fraud, setting an interval of five seconds also eliminates unwanted double clicks.
The “click fraud logging” in ADTECH’s ad management solution creates an extensive click log. Traffic Managers and Advertisers can view the data (e.g. user agent, referrer, linked sites, etc.) can be in the Click Fraud Report.

Since advertisers and publishers are familiar with their online numbers, these reports enable them to easily identify click volume fluctuations or suspicious patterns which allow them to take corrective measures such as blocking IP addresses and domains;and applying ‘geotargeting’ in banner delivery since many click fraudsters are based in Africa or Asia.
