London, UK – 8th June 2006. ADTECH, a leading provider of ad server technology has today announced that it has signed an Ad Server deal with Sky.com for support across the newly launched World Cup 2006 Web Site (Http://home.skysports.com/worldcup). The decision by Sky.com will enable them to predict traffic and available advertising space immediately as well as being able to test the ads within 2 minutes and provide near instant screen grabs to advertisers – therefore improving the customer experience.  

Sky.com, a regular user of ADTECH’s Helios IQ solution, decided to use it across a new site for the first time due to its previous successes and flexibility in predicting network traffic.

Commenting on the deal, Nicola Powell, Head of Online Advertising Operations at Sky.com, said:  “The very nature of the sporting industry dictates that traffic to a Web Site varies enormously – from season to season, day to day and dependent on fixtures and results.  With the Sky Sports Web Site being the biggest commercial site in the UK*, it’s very difficult to predict the amount of traffic we should expect and the number of impressions we have available. Usually a site has to use the previous 28 days inventory to gain an understanding of what to expect, but with events like the World Cup coming up every four years, it’s impossible to use that data to foresee what’s going to happen. We do look up what happened four years ago, but the popularity of the sport has grown immensely and so has the online community so prediction is challenging. We needed a tool which could enable us to manually override the system predicting the last 28 days of traffic and input our own projected data – Helios IQ enabled us to do exactly that.”

“Bringing ADTECH on board for this project has saved us hours of work manually inputting numbers into the system and is actually making us money by providing a true insight into the amount of ad space we have available to sell,” Powell continued. “In addition, the success of each campaign can be monitored in real-time – a unique feature which saves traffic managers significant amounts of time reporting and gives them full control over what they do.”
